Parent Academy Series
Collaboration between home and school is the key to unlocking children’s potential. Our school's Parent Academy Series covers three major areas: academic support, positive communication, and physical and mental well-being. By inviting experts from various fields to collaborate with our school teachers, we provide parents with diversified information and a stress-relief space, balancing theory and practice. Together with parents, we create a high-efficiency environment for family education in a relaxed atmosphere to help children achieve excellence.
Parent Seminar: “How Parents Can Inspire Children to Embrace Learning and Build Stronger Relationships”
How can parents encourage children to take initiative and love studying without constant reminders? We invited Dr. Leung Chun Man, also known as "Daddy Chunman," to explore this topic from the perspective of positive parenting. The seminar shared practical communication techniques to build connections with children through light-hearted interactions, achieving a win-win scenario where “children love learning, and parents feel more relaxed.”
DIY Workshop: “Natural Essential Oil Lip Balm”
In this workshop, parents learned not only skincare knowledge and how to choose the right formulas but also mastered the skill of creating lip balm. During the dry season, parents could create their own natural care products. Beyond the classroom, parents could share the joy of DIY with their children at home, extending the therapeutic moments of the class into warm family bonding activities.
Parent Seminar: “Activating Children’s English Thinking—The Full Guide to Reading, Phonics, and Writing”
This seminar featured experienced English educator Mr. Patrick Lam alongside our English Subject Head, Ms. Chung Suk Kwan. They introduced parents to comprehensive English learning strategies, from igniting an interest in reading, enhancing phonics skills, to improving written expression. Both experts shared actionable tips to build a pathway for children toward English proficiency.
Parent-Child Baking Activity: “Sweet New Year Dumplings for the Year of the Horse”
To celebrate the Lunar New Year, we hosted a baking event where parents and children worked together to create festive "dumplings." Each creation was infused with love and laughter, fostering a harmonious atmosphere. Through this collaboration between parents and school, we shared traditional festive joy while strengthening family bonds through meaningful moments of teamwork.
Mother’s Day Workshop: “A Heartwarming Blend of Desserts and Crafts”
While parents manage their families, they too deserve space for self-care. Right before Mother’s Day, we organized this special workshop for parents to take a break from household chores and immerse in the world of dessert-making and crafts. In a delightful atmosphere, they created a thoughtful gift for themselves, celebrating the holiday with warmth and joy.
Parent Seminar: “Memory Boost: Building a Tailored Vocabulary Bank for Your Child”
Is your child struggling with learning Chinese? We invited memory expert Mr. Lee Kam Fung to school, who shared practical tips for parents to enhance their children’s memory. Alongside him, Chinese Subject Head Ms. Cheung Hiu Yan offered insights on how to support children in recognizing words and utilizing vocabulary. Parents left equipped with strategies to assist their children’s Chinese language learning more effectively.
Parent Singing Class: “Kornhill Chorus in Harmony”
At Kornhill, learning is not limited to the classroom—the moving voices of parents also enrich the school community. Our Parent-Teacher Association organized a singing class where enthusiastic parents gathered to explore their musical talents. From basic vocal training to song interpretation, participants unearthed their potential. Upon completing the course, parents were given the opportunity to perform on stage, showcasing their growth and spreading confidence and positivity through their voices.
