Mission
Buddhist Education: Cultivating Wisdom and Virtue, Awakening Oneself to Illuminate the World, Uniting Action and Aspiration
The purpose of Buddhist practitioners in running education does not only emphasize the general development of students in morality, intellect, physical health, social interaction, and aesthetics—fostering a well-rounded character—but places particular emphasis on Buddhist education. This begins with awakening the innate wisdom within oneself, which involves training in self-awareness, the ability to discern right from wrong, and the basic capacity for creativity. Additionally, it aims to cultivate virtuous kindness towards others, which nurtures great emotional depth, mutual love and assistance, and serves as the cornerstone of social harmony.
Awakening wisdom is a foundational practice that is difficult to achieve. Students must set their resolve, maintain determination, and relentlessly train themselves. Educators, on the other hand, must continuously reflect and encourage improvement. As for cultivating virtue, it is a practice of awakening the world and is challenging to implement. Students must make vows, nurture love and compassion, and consistently motivate themselves. Educators should provide appropriate guidance and inspiration to foster this development.
